Carole M. Ryan

TICONDEROGA — On Aug. 3, 2020, Carole M. Ryan, age 76, of Ticonderoga, unexpectedly yet peacefully passed away while in the care of her daughter and family in Pennsylvania. Carole was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend that will be deeply missed by all.

Born April 20, 1944, in Brunswick, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Natalie (Meserve) LaChance. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald Patrick Ryan on Sept. 27, 2003. Carole and Pat married on Aug. 31, 1963, and cherished their 40 years of marriage.

She was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of her life and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ticonderoga.

Carole enjoyed spending time with her beloved cat Becky, reading, doing word searches and most importantly cherishing time with family and friends. Always a girl from Maine at heart, she enjoyed lobster and home cooking and developed a sweet tooth later in life. She loved dancing in her younger years, especially the jitterbug with Pat!

She worked at Grand Union and Tops of Ticonderoga in the office prior to retiring. She later enjoyed volunteering for hospice and working part-time at North Country Home Services caring for others.

Carole spent the past year with her family enjoying many new experiences, including a trip to Australia to visit her granddaughter in Sydney for her 75th birthday. Although she dearly missed her friends in Ticonderoga the past year, she was happy and surrounded by her immediate family while living with her daughter in Pennsylvania.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Kelly R. and David D. Davies of Furlong, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Danielle Davies of California; one brother, Leo LaChance of Maine; and one half-brother, Dwight Andrews of Nevada. She remained close with her brother and sisters-in-law, Walt and Margie Ryan of New Jersey and Audrey Maloney of Syracuse. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews as well as her lifelong, dear friend Leona Simpson.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.

A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Christopher J. Looby, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will take place at the family plot of St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 11:30 a.m.

Donations in Carole’s memory may be made to High Peaks Hospice, P.O. Box 205, Mineville, NY 12956.
