Charles E. Rolley Sr.

Charles E. Rolley Sr., age 80, of Saranac Lake, passed away on March 24, 2020, at 8:55 p.m. Born on Dec. 8, 1939, Charles was the son of Edward Sr. and Delphine Rolley.

Chuck spent 36 years of his life as a medical driver helping people get to their medical appointments. Seven of those years was driving the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center van so people could get their treatment. This was before he himself was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Then he went on to be a patient himself, having to leave work and get treatments for himself. Sadly, the treatment was with no success, which led to his death.

Anyone who knew Chuck knew he was one of the most helping, generous, kind, understanding, loyal and amazing people you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. He often put others’ needs before his own.

Chuck enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed the simple things in life. The way he died is the same way he lived. He wrote his own rules. He fought authority and paved his own way. If you said he couldn’t do it, he made sure he could. Chuck was always, no matter what, the best father, papa, uncle, brother anyone could ask for! He spent his life taking care of his family and friends. He was always there if anyone needed a favor, whether it was money, a ride or just someone to talk to. He got to honor his best friend and sister Debbie down the aisle to her husband Fred Monette.

He is survived by four sisters: Shirley Ayotte of Tupper Lake, Joan Carvallho of Suffolk, Virginia, Linda Moody of Tupper Lake, and Debbie Monette of Tupper Lake; four sons: Lawrence Premo of Saranac Lake, Scott Premo of Lake Placid, Charles Jr. and his wife Lisa Rolley of Lake Placid, and Jayson Rolley of Saranac Lake; a daughter, Sherri Sessoms of Lake Placid; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grand-babies; and many nieces (great) and nephews (great).

Charles was preceded in death by both parents; his lifelong love Gloria Premo, whom he spent 51 years with before her passing on Oct. 3, 2012; a son, Eric Rolley, who passed on July 21, 1982; and a brother Edward “Pappy” Rolley Jr., who passed on Jan. 19, 2008.
