Gerald D. Hyland

Born in Binghamton on Dec. 9, 1940, he was the son of Robert and Edwina (Dempsey) Hyland. He married Jeanne Prospero on Feb. 13, 1971, in LeRoy.

Gerald served in the United States Coast Guard for several years. He moved to Saranac Lake in 1973 and had been employed at the American Management Association for many years until his retirement in 2002. Following retirement he worked part time for the Olympic Regional Development Authority in Lake Placid. Gerald enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was younger and gardening in his later years.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne of Lake Clear; one daughter, Theresa Hyland of Plattsburgh; one brother, Tom Hyland of Webster; and two sisters, Julie Hyland and Mary Ciccarone, both of Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his father, mother and one brother, Robert Hyland.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. At Gerald’s request, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
