Anne S. Latham

Anne S. Latham, age 82, of Bloomingdale, died Feb. 25 following a brief illness at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

Born in Black River, New York on April 16, 1937, she was the daughter of Ralph and Grace (O’Neil) Sweeney. Anne married Murray Latham on Sunday, May 18, 1958 in St. James Church in Gouverneur, New York. Murray predeceased her Feb. 4, 2002.

Anne was a 1955 graduate of Gouverneur High School. She was a member of the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, worked with St. Bernard’s CCD program and was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts Pack 19 in Bloomingdale. She also was a Girl Scout leader. Anne was awarded membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution chapter in Gouverneur. She enjoyed bowling, arranging flowers, sewing and cryptograms. She also enjoyed refinishing furniture.

She is survived by one daughter Valorie (David) Trost of Vermontville, New York, three sons Michael (Lisa) Latham of Kansas City, William Latham of Bloomingdale and Peter Latham of North Tonawanda, New York, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and one sister Carolyn (Richard) Perry of Syracuse, New York, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son William’s fianc Becky Colby and two brothers William and Neil Sweeney.

Calling hours will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at noon on Monday, March 2 at St. Bernard’s Church, with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur in May.
