Aida Moldonado

Aida Maldonado, age 83, of Tupper Lake, formerly of Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Aida was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on Nov. 10, 1936, the daughter of Manuel and Maria (Perez) Maldonado.

Aida was a dedicated seamstress for most of her life, she provided her services to many factories in Brooklyn, New York, in her earlier years. Aida moved to the Tri-Lakes area over 30 years ago and called Saranac Lake her home. In addition to being a seamstress, Aida also very much enjoyed reading, playing cards and visiting with her many friends. She particularly enjoyed being a foster grandparent in Saranac Lake. Aida’s biggest joy was being with and doing things with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Aida “Yiya” is survived by her two sons: Hector (Peg) Rodriguez and Eladio “Tito” Valentin of Saranac Lake, her two daughters: Beatrice Winchell of Tupper Lake and Mary Jane Valentin-Delgado of Goshen, New York. Aida is also survived by her sister Henna Maldonado-Vega of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and a very special loving nephew Luis “Guisin” Maldonado, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Aida was preceded in death by her mother and father and two brothers: Luis “Guiso” Maldonado and Henry Maldonado.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, New York. At Aida’s request there will be no calling hours, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Family and friends wishing to remember Aida Maldonado may make memorial contributions to the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad or Tupper Lake Rescue Squad in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
