Kenneth Carl Martell

Ken was born on Oct. 29, 1956, in Saranac Lake, the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Ratelle) Martell. A graduate of Saranac Lake High School, Ken was employed by the New York state fish hatchery and later worked with his brother-in-law Roger. Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting, listening to music, volunteering at the Wednesday Community Supper and spending time at Mount Crest and with his AA family.

Ken married his best friend Andrea DeGrace on July 31, 2004. Andrea passed away June 22, 2014.

Survivors include his children: Kenneth John and his fiancee Melissa of Matthews, North Carolina, and Bethany Ann Hogan and her husband Josh of Canton; sisters Margaret Martell and her husband Roger Holmes of DeLand, Florida, and Theresa Martell of Saranac Lake; and grandchildren McKayla and Noah Hogan. Also surviving are his kitties Jeter and Ebie, niece Heather Bair, Andrea’s family and several cousins.

Ken’s family is thankful for the many kind and supportive people who were there for him.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983. At Ken’s request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be held in the spring in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake. Friends wishing to remember Ken may make memorial contributions to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
