Leona Elise Sauvie
Leona Elise Sauvie, 73, of Saranac Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, following a short illness.
Born in Saranac Lake on Feb. 4, 1946, she was the daughter of Albert and Louise (Wilkins) Christie. Leona married Bernard Sauvie on Saturday, June 8, 1985, in St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake. He predeceased her on June 16, 2012.
She is survived by one sister, Frances (Corydon) Orne of North Prairie, Wisconsin, several cousins including Linda (Ed) Woodard of Saranac Lake, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and one sister, Sheila Weiner.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at noon on Thursday, Sept. 12 at the chapel at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid, with the Rev. C.J. MacAvoy officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
