Rick Fortune, 62, of Saranac Lake, died Friday, April 19, 2019.
Born in Saranac Lake on Dec. 5, 1956, he was the son of Frederick and Bernita (Naegle) Fortune. Rick married Katharine “Katie” Riedinger on Aug. 24, 1991, at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake.
Rick lived in Rochester for a while and moved back to Saranac Lake in the early ’80s.
He was an accomplished, skillful auto technician and worked at Stanley Chevrolet and Carcuzzi Car Care Center. He enjoyed taking care and driving his 1964 F-85 Oldsmobile.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially on his patio surrounded by his gardens, grilling and having a fire. He also loved riding his bike.
His love of all music would find him as a patron of Party on the Patio enjoying the music and company of his many friends.
He is survived by his wife Katharine; three sons: Craig Fortune of Saranac Lake, Nicholas Fortune of Schenectady and Brian Fortune of Saranac Lake; two sisters: Barbara Paulino of Webster and Vickie Carrieri of Hartsville, South Carolina; three brothers: Larry Fortune of Colorado, Robert Fortune of Altona and Frederick Fortune of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A prayer service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating.
