Gertrude J. (Gerrie) Graham

Gertrude J. (Gerrie) Graham, 80, of Norwalk, Connecticut passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at the Brightview Assisted Living Center in Norwalk, Connecticut. 

Mrs. Graham was born Oct. 11, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of William and Josephine (Kaleta) Engle. She married Milton Russell Graham on June 13, 1959 at Munn Avenue Presbyterian Church in East Orange, N.Y.  

  Besides being an exceptional wife, mother and grandmother, Gerrie was an accomplished dancer in her early years with performances on Broadway. She later pursued a teaching career which spanned 12 years as a much-loved teacher at Tokeneke Elementary School in Darien, Connecticut. Upon retirement, she and her husband became innkeepers at the Wedgewood Inn in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts. During this time, she also passionately studied painting and enjoyed artistic projects. She was an active member of the Christian Science Churches in both Darien, Connecticut and in Hyannis, Massachusetts. She infused all of these activities with her tremendous creativity, warmth, energy and generosity.

  She is survived by her husband Milton Graham of Norwalk, Connecticut; her sister Marguerite Fulton (husband Joe) of Houston, Texas; her three children: David Graham (wife JoAnn) of New York, N.Y., Mark Graham (wife Nancy) of Wilton, Connecticut, and Lori Brady (husband Patrick) of Baltimore, Maryland; and, her seven grandchildren: Louisa, Emily, Luca, Matthew, Nolan, William (Brady) and Grace.

She was predeceased by her brother William Engle. 

  There are no calling hours.  A graveside service will be held at noon Saturday, April 13, in the North Elba Cemetery, Old Military Road, Lake Placid.
