Mary J. Dufort Bomyea

Mary J. Dufort Bomyea, 92, of North Bangor, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 9, 2015, at her home.

Born in Bangor on May 26, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Beatrice Machaby Brockway. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1939.

On July 8, 1940, she was united in marriage to James H. Dufort. He predeceased her in 2008. She was united in marriage to Richard Bomyea in 1975. He predeceased her in 1995.

Mary was a cook for several Adirondack camp families. She was also a sales clerk at the Fair Store and S&H Green Stamp Store in Saranac Lake.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. She loved her pug dog, Beau, and her cat, Katie.

Survivors include five daughters and two sons-in-law: Diane Ethridge of Queensbury, Carol MacDonald of Malone, Elizabeth “B.J.” and Ronald Noreault of Malone, Karen Sligh of Alexandria, Virginia and Nancy and Peter Henry of Rainbow Lake; one daughter-in-law, Mary Dufort of Plattsburgh; three stepsons: Rick Bomyea of Renesselaer Falls, Mark Bomyea and his wife Maureen of Renesselaer Falls, and Phillip Bomyea and his wife Cindy of Saranac Lake; three stepdaughters: Sr. Debbie Bomyea of Colorado, Tina Blinn and her husband, Jerry of Saranac Lake, and Susan Bomyea of Marion, North Carolina; 27 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her two husbands, she was predeceased by one son, Ronald Dufort.

Calling hours will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, May 14 at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chris Looby officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine’s Cemetery in North Bangor.

Donations may be made in her memory to the SPCA.
