Gary Sullivan

Gary Sullivan, 71, of Saranac Lake, died Friday, April 24, 2015 at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh.

Born in Saranac Lake on Jan. 24, 1944, he was the son of Daniel and Anne (Hathaway) Sullivan.

Gary was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake. He loved to play basketball, baseball and jog all over town in his early years. He worked at the Saranac Lake General Hospital for three years in environmental services and later worked at North Country Community College for seven years as a custodian. He enjoyed working there, until back injuring his back in the mid 1980s. He enjoyed reading, watching television and was an avid sports fan. He especially loved the Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by one sister, Casey Steiner and her husband Mark of Las Vegas, Nevada; one nephew, Shawn Sullivan of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; and four great-nieces and great-nephews: Madison, Daniel, Katelyn, and Fiona Sullivan of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Richard and Ronald Sullivan.

Gary’s family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 5 at the Uihlein Living Center chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at Uihlein with the Rev. C.J. McAvoy officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
