Donald Meineker
Donald Meineker, 89, a resident of Colorado Springs for the past two years, passed away suddenly on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at his home.
He was retired, having owned and operated Don’s Florist in Saranac Lake, for many years and MeadowLark Gardens in East Greenbush for 24 years.
Donald Meineker was born on July 19,1925, in Albany to Frederick and Gwendolyn Meineker. He attended high school in East Greenbush.
Donald honorably served his country in the United States Navy and then went on to study horticulture at Cobleskill College in New York.
Donald married Sandra Joann Williams on July 13, 1980, in Saranac Lake.
He was a great guy and will be remembered for his friendly nature, great cooking and love for his work and the great outdoors. His hobbies included bird carving, drawing pictures and playing the piano, harmonica and Hawaiian guitar. He was a wonderful husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra and his daughter, Jennifer Meineker, both of Colorado Springs.
At a future date, his ashes will be scattered in Lake Placid per his wishes.
