Stuart P. Morgan

Stuart Patrick Morgan, 90, a longtime resident of Wilmington, passed away comfortably and peacefully on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 at the Highlands of Pittsford in Pittsford.

Stuart was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Utica.

Stuart was a World War II veteran serving in the Army-Air Force, where he was a crew supervisor and belly-gunner on a B-24 Liberator bomber. Stuart was an accomplished boxer and participated in several Golden Gloves boxing matches.

Widely known as “Mr. Fix-It,” Stuart was a carpenter and jack-of-all-trades. He worked many years in construction for Murnane Construction of Plattsburgh, and Torrance Construction of Lake Placid.

Stuart also served for several years as the head of maintenance for Northwood School and later for Lake Placid High School. Stuart served terms as justice of the peace and town clerk for the town of Wilmington in the early 1960s.

Stuart is survived by one daughter, Darlene Walker (Brian) of Victor; two sons: Chuck Morgan of Avon and Gary Morgan (Tracy Pelkey) of Naples; four grandchildren: Kimberly-Finch Dominy (Edward) of Escondido, California, Dylan Morgan of Naples, Elizabeth Morgan and Kelly Morgan of Avon; one great-granddaughter, Paige Dominy of Escondido, California; and several nieces and nephews.

Stuart was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leta.

Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at the M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid with an American legion prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Services will be at the Clark Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, followed by interment at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Bonnieview Road, Wilmington. The family suggests donations in Stu’s memory be made to the Wilmington volunteer fire and ambulance services or the Alzheimer’s Association.
