James A. Sutton

James Allen Sutton, born Feb. 22, 1939, in the small town of Ruby, the son of Margaret Minnikine Sutton and Charles Sutton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at his home in Saranac Lake at the age of 75.

Mr. Sutton graduated from Mount Marion High School in 1957 and went on to pursue his dream of becoming a master carpenter. Jim owned and operated Sutton Contracting in Saranac Lake since 1980. Jim was a member of the Moose Lodge and Sons of the American Legion of Saranac Lake.

Jim Sutton was an avid carpenter who enjoyed teaching others the trade. In his younger years, he also loved being an alter boy for the Lutheran Church, boating, hunting and fishing.

Jim is survived by his wife of 18 years Sharon Faulkner Sutton of Saranac Lake; two stepsons: Wayne Curtis (and his wife Arlene) of Greenville and David Curtis (and his wife Terri) of Franklin, Tennessee; three daughters: Bonnie Webb (and her husband Robert) of Vermontville, Heidi Daby (and her husband Kimball) of Lake Placid and Rebecca Sutton of Lake Placid; a stepdaughter Deana Morgan of Saranac Lake; two grandsons: Brock Curtis of Franklin, Tennessee and Robert J. Webb Jr. of Vermontville; four granddaughters: Melissa Curtis of Freehold, Maeve Daby of Lake Placid, Morgan Nero and Carrie Beth Nero, both of Saranac Lake; and a brother, Walter Sutton of East Durham.

Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Curtis Sutton; his stepson, Francis Curtis; his sister Bernice Kearney; and his brother Charles “Sonny” Sutton.

There will be no calling hours. Internment will be at the Mount Marion Cemetery in Saugerties at the convenience of the family.

The Heald Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
