Jacqueline J. Brown

Born in Tupper Lake on Oct. 28,1929, she was the daughter of the late Ulric and Regina (LaMarche) Gagnon.

Jackie attended Holy Ghost Academy and graduated from the Tupper Lake High School in 1947. She was a secretary with Nichols Insurance Co., retiring in June 1986. She was married to B. James Brown on June 27, 1974 in St. Alphonsus Church.

She and her late husband Jim enjoyed camping and traveling. The highlight of their travels was a nine-week trip to Alaska in 1986 with Pat and Art Richer and Shirley and Walt LaVigne. For 10 years, they wintered in Port Charlotte, Florida, at Maple Leaf Estates.

She was a former member of the Tupper Lake Bridge Club, St. Anne Society, Tupper Lake Country Club, the St. Alphonsus Liturgy Team and the Tupper Lake Rod & Gun Club. She was a volunteer for High Peaks Hospice, the Tupper Lake Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels and presently a member of the Wild Center and Next Stop Tupper Lake.

She is survived by her sister Cheryl Peterson (David) of Marietta, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Richard Gagnon Jr., Jackie O’Brien, Adele Richer, Arthur Richer, Ronald Richer, Patti Ann Richer, Chipper Brown, Nancy Zavaglia, Tim Brown, Susan Britton, Mary Anne Fries, Michelle Whitaker, Todd Peterson and several other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Patricia Richer, Joyce Earle, Joan Brown and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Jim Brown and her brother Richard J. Gagnon Sr.

Calling hours will take place at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake on Tuesday, Sept. 2, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
