Russell A. Koch

Russell A. Koch, 95, of Moody Road, Tupper Lake, passed after a long illness on Tuesday March 11, 2014.

Born in Newark, N.J. on May 1, 1918, he was the son of Adolph and Florence ( Selander) Koch. He graduated West Side High School 1936. He served in Troop E 102nd Calvary (Horse) New Jersey National Guard from 1936 to 1940. He served in U.S. Army from February 1943 to November 1945 in 63rd Combat Engineers attached to 44th Infantry Division in France. He was injured and evacuated from France in 1944. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life member of American Legion.

He retired from Ford Motor Company Metuchen assembly plant in 1976 after 28 years as production superintendent.

He is survived by two sons: Russell D. and his wife Pamela C. and Gary W.; three grandchildren: Lori M., Kasandra J. and David R.; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased in 1993 by his wife of 53 years, Jean A. Lind.

Calling hours are scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 14 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake. In addition, calling hours will be held at the Van Tassel funeral home, 337 Belleville Ave., Bloomfield, N.J. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 18. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Bloomfield cemetery, Bloomfield, N.J.
