Florence Stone

Florence Stone of Prospect Avenue, Tupper Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at home.

Born March 11, 1918, in Tupper Lake to Alfred and Sylvia (La Grave) LaBelle, she married Gerald Stone Sr. on July 17, 1940, at Holy Name Church.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She retired from Sunmount Developmental Disabilities Services Office in 1980.

She is survived by four sons: Gerald Stone Jr. and Ronald (Kay Pauquette) Stone of Tupper Lake, James (Linda Engles) Stone of Palm Harbor, Fla., and John Stone of Syracuse; one daughter, Sharon (Martin) Dwyer of Syracuse; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie Bashant of Tupper Lake and Elizabeth Knickerbocker of Syracuse. She was predeceased by her husband in 2006, two brothers and two sisters.

Calling hours will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 28 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29 at Holy Name Church in Tupper Lake. Burial will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in the spring.
