Michael G. Williams

ROCKVILLE, MD. – Michael Gordon Williams, 65, died Jan. 13, 2014, at a Rockville, hospital from pancreatic and liver cancer. He was born Aug. 12, 1948, the son of the late Gordon Williams and Mildred Williams of Lake Placid.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Martha; his mother, Mildred of Lake Placid; his daughters, Melissa Sorensen of Orlando, Fla., Theresa Klein of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Heather Williams of Laurel, Md.; and two granddaughters, Laurel of Orlando and Samantha Sue of Colorado Springs. His first wife was Susan Blood of Charleston, S.C. Survivors also include his sisters, Gladys (Susie) Barney and her husband Jon of Lake Placid, Patti Osgood and her husband Scott of Henniker, N.H., and Karen Pagano of Pleasant Valley, N.Y. Many nieces, a nephew, and cousins also survive, especially Jonathan Barney of Kingston, N.Y.

He graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1966 and from Potsdam State in 1971 with a bachelor of arts degree in computer science. He was an avid fisherman, and caught a large fish in Mirror Lake on his last trip to Lake Placid in July.

Michael served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1977, and worked for BAE Systems from 1977 until his retirement in 2011.

Arrangements are with Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home, 300 W. Montgomery Ave, Rockville, MD 20850. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, at Oakdale Emery United Methodist Church in Olney, Md.
