Luke A. Kempa

Luke Anthony Kempa, 61, a former resident of Lake Placid, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 from complications associated with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Mr. Kempa was born Nov. 4, 1951 in Lake Placid. He was the son of Ralph Anthony and Kathleen (Patnode) Kempa.

He was a graduate of Lake Placid High School, Class of 1969 and attended New York University in New York City. Luke was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan and enjoyed following New York Giants football, but his love was for the Yankees.

He is survived by one brother, Joe Kempa of Lake Placid, and one sister, Helen Chambers and her husband Steve of Liverpool. He is also survived by his nephew Brendan Chambers of Massachusetts and many cousins.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at St. Agnes Church, Lake Placid with the Rev. John Yonkovig officiating. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery.
