Dennis F. Harrington

Dennis was born July 7, 1934, in Englewood, N.J., to Frank and Elizabeth (nee McCabe) Harrington.

Dennis graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in business administration and graduated from Columbia University with a master’s degree in hospital administration. He was the administrator of Placid Memorial Hospital in Lake Placid and in 1980 was a member of the Winter Olympics Committee.

He was the loving husband of Patricia Vandeweghe Harrington; devoted father of Elizabeth Harrington and her partner Gary Blum, Mia Darrah and her husband Ronald, Dennis; and survived by their mother Beatrice Kniffen Harrington. He was the dear stepfather of Gilbert Straub and his wife Sylvia and Julie Straub Rosen; beloved brother of William Harrington of Ocean Grove N.J. and Fr. Ashley Harrington O.Carm. of St. Cecilia R.C. Church Englewood, ; and adored grandfather of LCPL Nicholas Darrah, USMC, Maggie Darrah, Kyle Rosen, Alex and Ivan Straub.

Visitation will be held form 2 to 4 and to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 at the Barrett Funeral Home, 148 Dean Drive, Tenafly, N.J. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the St. Cecilia R.C. Church, Englewood, N.J. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Tenafly, N.J.
