Barbara Ann Wylie

Barbara Ann Wylie, 76, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at her home in Lake Placid.

Mrs. Wylie was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Malone. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Charles Griffin and the late Irene (Fellion) Griffin. She married Arlington O. “Arnie” Wylie Sr. in 1953 in Constable. She was predeceased by her husband on March 16, 2002.

She was co-owner and worked alongside her husband Arnie at Arnie’s Service Station in Lake Placid. She enjoyed gardening and loved the time she spent with her family and pets, and spent many hours with them in the back yard around the pool.

She is survived by two sons: Arlington Wylie Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn., and Ricky Shonyo and his wife Nenita of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters: Robin Wylie Shaw and her husband Michael of Lake Placid, Debra Wylie Rattee and her husband Reginald of Lake Placid, and Heidi Joane Wylie of Plattsburgh; one sister, Shirley Irene Shonyo Levine and her husband Morton of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren: Chad Shaw and his wife Sydny of Sandwich, Cape Cod, Mass., Michael Rattee of Saranac Lake and Barbara Rattee and her husband Joe Fuller of Branford, Conn. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Mikala, Caitlin and David Shaw, and Aaron and Lucien Rattee.

Barbara was predeceased by her daughter Pamela Wylie Coyle and by one brother, Charles Griffin.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, with a Bible vigil service at 7:45 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Saranac Avenue, Lake Placid, with Father John Yonkovig and Father Patrick O’Reilly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Lake Placid.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to High Peaks Hospice.
