Monica’s art show

Monica Sara Mzese sits in front of her two largest and most recent paintings at the Recovery Lounge in the Upper Jay Art Center during an opening reception of her exhibit “Feelings” on Oct. 17. Sara is a 17-year-old student at Lake Placid High School, born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, who moved to the United States in 2018. Monica says she has always preferred to express herself through drawing and visual imagery rather than words. She currently prefers to work in acrylic and has worked on smaller canvasses, but is beginning to work on larger ones. The exhibit is on display through December and can be viewed by calling 518 946-8315 to make an appointment. The art center is located in Upper Jay at 12198 Old Route 9N.
