Pendragon Theatre offering acting and playwriting classes
SARANAC LAKE – Have you always wanted to do some acting or playwriting, but haven’t figured out how to make the leap? Well, you are in luck.
This winter, Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake is offering acting classes and a playwriting workshop for all levels of experience.
Acting classes will be taught by Kimberley Bouchard, SUNY Professor Emeritus and Pendragon’s artistic director. The classes, designed for all levels of ability, are being held on Wednesday evenings beginning January 8 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The first session will be held Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29, Feb. 12 and 19. The second session runs March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 3 and 10. The cost is $50 per six-class session and participants are welcome to take one or both. Session Two will build on Session One, but beginners are welcome.
The theatre is also offering an Adult Playwriting Workshop. The seven-session course, led by Kimberley Bouchard and Fred Balzac, will run Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Jan. 7, 21, Feb. 4, 18, March 3, 17, and 31. This workshop is for all levels of writers whether they have written a play before or want to give it a try. It culminates in a Festival of New Works, where playwrights work with actors and directors to see and hear their plays come to life. Cost for the seven-session playwriting workshop is $60.
