SARANAC LAKE – “Legend of the Snow Queen,” a puppet show created by Matt Sorensen, adapted from Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale, “The Snow Queen,” comes to Pendragon Theatre this Saturday, July 27 at 2 p.m.

The puppet show is a story of friendship, magic, and adventure that celebrates compassion and high epic fantasy. A formidable journey is undertaken by a young girl named Gerda to save her friend Kai, who has vanished mysteriously. Through a chance meeting with a strange old woman and an enchanted sword, Gerda ventures into a magical world. She is allied with a misfit group of creatures who help her to harness the power of her own unique gifts. Gerda faces the Snow Queen and embarks on a dangerous adventure that leaves her forever changed.

Sorensen is a recent graduate from University of Connecticut’s Puppet Arts Program and has returned to Pendragon for his 20th season to play the part of Dan in the musica “Next to Normal.” He is also director of Camp Pendragon, which is currently presenting “Mary Poppins Jr.”

Sorensen is touring the north country with his MFA project, Legend of the Snow Queen, with his company, Puppet Bucket Productions.
