LAKE PLACID — The Songs at Mirror Lake free concert series returns for the season this Tuesday.

The 14th annual summer event kicks off with roots night featuring a performance by the David Bromberg Quintet at 7 p.m. in Mid’s Park on Main Street.

Bromberg is a Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter living in Delaware. He’s been a lifelong musician, and throughout the last 50 years of his career he’s played with some of the most iconic musicians of his generation, including Jerry Garcia, Bob Dylan and George Harrison, who played on his first self-titled album in 1972. Bromberg served as a session musician for the Eagles, Willie Nelson, Carly Simon and Ringo Starr.

Other members of the quintet include Mark Cosgrove, Nate Grower, Josh Kanusky and Suavek Zanisienko.

“I’m a lifelong fan of David Bromberg,” said Songs at Mirror Lake organizer Bill Billerman. “The quintet plays everything: Blues, bluegrass, rock.”

Songs at Mirror Lake is a “free, community-supported series,” he said.

The full Songs at Mirror Lake lineup includes:

¯Cuban jazz night with Orquesta Akokan on July 9;

¯Newgrass night with Sierra Hull on July 16;

¯Bob Dylan night with Joan Osborne on July 23;

¯Rock night with BoDeans on July 30;

¯Local jam night with Nina’s Brew on Aug. 6;

¯Southern rock night with the Marcus King Band on Aug. 13.

“We’ve tried to get different genres of music every week,” Billerman said. “We don’t do repeats, and we try to get new bands.

“It’s right on Mirror Lake. On a gorgeous night, you can’t beat it.”

All of the concerts run 7 to 9 p.m. and are free to attend. For more information, visit songsatmirrorlake.org. Those interested in volunteering to staff the events are encouraged to contact Billerman at bill@songsatmirrorlake.org.
