Though our house in in desperate need of some deep spring cleaning, I’m lucky if I can get one good day of decluttering out of my family. I can’t seem to muster the energy to actually do more than one room before losing interest. Yes, I essentially just shift all my junk to a different location. Since I can’t be the only one looking for ways to procrastinate, here are some fun things to do to celebrate spring. Happy exploring!

Arts and crafts for all

BluSeed Studios’ free spring break art classes: For the second year, BluSeed Studios, Saranac Lake is offering free art classes during the second week of spring break (April 15-19) for all area local youth ages 5-18. Pre-registration is required. Elementary aged students will make a series of craft projects while older middle and high school students can learn wood carving and sketching. Adirondack Carousel Pizza Nights and Craft

Sessions: The hand-carved carousel features Adirondack indigenous animals as well as a children’s play area. Special Friday pizza nights as well as craft sessions are some springtime offerings. Four 2-hour crafting workshops with LaMia Designs are being offered. The $20 admission includes all materials, instruction, carousel rides, and a snack.

Designed for children ages four and older. Individual ride passes are available for $2.50, $6 for three rides, and $10 for seven rides. An unlimited play pass to the children’s area is $5 and includes one carousel ride. There are limited April hours: Saturday, April 6: 10 a.m. to noon; Tuesday, April 9: 10 a.m. to noon; Friday, April 12: 5 to 6:30 p.m.; April 13: 10a.m. to noon; Tuesday, April 16 10 a.m. to noon; Friday, April 19: 5 to 6:30 p.m. Call 518-891-9521 or go to AdirondackCarousel.org.

Story Time

The Bookstore Plus, Lake Placid: Besides getting all the latest books, handmade cards and art supplies, The Bookstore Plus has special craft sessions and story times. Go to thebookstoreplus.com to check out their weekly events.

Tupper Lake’s Goff-Nelson Memorial Library: Every Tuesday at 10 a.m. year-round. Enjoy a Pre-K story time. During April 15-18, there will be special spring activities. Call 518-359-9421.

Lake Placid Public Library: Call 518-523-3200 for special events and hours of operation.

Saranac Lake Free Library: Call 518-891-4190 for special events, lunchtime lectures, and even a knitting group.

Indoor climbing walls

Keep in mind that you do not need a lot of rock climbing experience to enjoy spending a few hours at a climbing gym.

The Climbery at High Peaks Cyclery, 2733 Main St., Lake Placid, 518-523-3764, www.highpeakscyclery.com, is open 7 days a week, Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fee is $10 for climbing and shoe rental for two hours or get a 10-visit climbing pass for $40.

The Crux, 56 Rogers Lane, Willsboro, 518-963-4646, www.pokomac.com/crux-rocking-climbing is open through May. Monday, Wednesday and Friday 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday noon to 6 p.m. Children (12 and under) are admitted for $8 and $10 for adults, rental: $7.50 for helmet, harness, shoes, and chalk bag.

Paul Smith’s College Rock Wall: PSC Rock fee is included as part of its $10 fitness pass. The Rock Wall hours are Monday through Saturday 6 to 9 p.m. with a special Kids Climbing on Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. Call 518-327-6848.

Bowling

Bowling is great exercise and also just plain fun. All the bowling lanes offer daily specials, food, beverages and other activities.

Swimming

Champy’s Fun Zone, 411 state Route 3, Plattsburgh, 518-562-2730. Mini Water Park: $10 per child for three hours and Family Fun Center is pay as you go downstairs at the arcade with mini-bowling, laser tag and indoor glow-in-the-dark mini golf.

North Country Community College Sparks Complex, 112 Dorchester Road, Saranac Lake has open swim every day but the times vary so call 518-891-2915, ext. 1236 or go to NCCC.prestosports.com/facilities/pool_hours for times. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 (seniors 65+ and children 4-14) and free for children (under 4) or $20 for a family of four.

Paul Smith’s College, 518- 327-6389. The $10 day pass includes all the Fitness Center facilities as well as the Rock Climbing Wall, swimming pool and any special fitness classes. Recreational swim: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 6 to 7:30 a.m.; Monday, Wednesday and Friday: noon to 1 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.; Thursday from 7:30 to 9 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m.
