Artists at Work Open Studio Tour next weekend

SARANAC LAKE – Saranac Lake Art Works will host the 8th annual Artists at Work Open Studio Tour this fall.

In addition to the participating local art galleries, a number of artists in the Tri-Lakes area will be opening their personal studios to the public on the weekend of Nov.11-13.

A wide variety of art and crafts including photography, painting, printmaking, collage, ceramics and fiber art will be on display and for sale.

Many of the artists and galleries are centrally located in and around the Village of Saranac Lake. The Adirondack Artists Guild and North Wind Fine Arts are both co-operative galleries, exhibiting work by a combined total of 26 local artists. Stop in to meet artists at work creating new pieces.

At BluSeed Studios, people will find papermaking, printmaking and ceramic studios, as well as a large gallery space to explore.

Cape Air, displaying artwork by various Art Works members, will be open for viewing.

Individual artists with studios in or near downtown include Cris Winters at Art at The Pink House, featuring fiber and mixed media pieces; Tim Fortune at Small Fortune Studio, watercolor and oil paintings with a focus on large scale water colors; Georgeanne Gaffney at Second Floor Studio, watercolor and acrylic paintings ranging from portraits to landscapes; Mark Kurtz, photographic panoramic and Holga images from the Adirondacks to Manhattan and beyond; Sandra Hildreth, oil paintings of the Adironcacks; and Peter Seward, traditionally painted watercolor and oil paintings depicting a narrative concerning our post modern drama.

Visit the Art Works website or pick up an Artists at Work Open Studio Tour guide at The Adirondack Artists Guild (tour headquarters), the Carousel, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid Visitor Centers, Paul Smith’s Visitor Interpretive Center, Pendragon Theater and area galleries to find out which artists will be participating on each day.
