LAKE PLACID – The Pines Inn Songs at Mirror Lake Music Series presented by Adirondack “By Owner” has announced the second performance in the seven week series, scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, as The Band Night with The Weight.

The free, weekly concert is held at Mid’s Park on Main Street, and run through Aug. 9.

Replicating the music of The Band is a tall order. But interpreting the music of The Band is an art. Songs that have reverberated across history for decades continue to speak to millions of us. And The Weight, a five-piece ensemble featuring Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante from The Band, Brian Mitchell of the Levon Helm Band , Albert Rogers and Marty Grebb, who worked with Rick Danko and Richard Manuel of The Band, remains a vehicle through which listeners can continue to share those stories and dance to those back beats.

Jim Weider is a former member of the legendary group, The Band. From 1985 to 2000, Weider replaced Robbie Robertson as their lead guitarist, writing songs and performing on their three studio albums, “Jericho,” “High on the Hog” and “Jubilation.”

He toured internationally with original Band members Levon Helm, Garth Hudson and Rick Danko for fifteen years and was featured with them on numerous albums, films, videos and television appearances. Weider is a current member of Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble Band and his group Project Percolator.

Randy Ciarlante was a member of the second incarnation of The Band. Up until Levon’s passing, he double-drummed in Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble Band. He played drums alongside Levon and sang on The Band’s albums, circa 1990s.

Brian Mitchell is a current member of Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble Band and is well-known within the circles of the music industry and beyond for his solo career and his high-profile collaborations. He has recorded and performed with some of music’s most respected artists, Levon Helm, Bob Dylan, Al Green, B.B. King, and countless others.

Marty Grebb played with The Rick Danko Band, The Garth Hudson Band, wrote songs with Richard Manuel, and also wrote for and recorded with Eric Clapton, Leon Russell, Etta James, Marty also wrote songs, and played for The Band, appearing on the “Jericho” CD.

Albert Rogers plays bass and shares vocal duties as a member of The Weight. A long-time collaborator with Jim Weider, Rogers has played with Levon Helm and Garth Hudson of The Band, as well as Albert Lee, Jim Quick, and Grayson Hugh.
