Singing in the snow
A group of Black Friday protestors sing “the rising tide” by musician mama nous in Riverside Park in Saranac Lake on Friday. They were urging people to buy local and boycott corporations during the holiday season, and year-round. Keela Grimmette, who co-founded Adirondack People Power, which organized the rally, said she believes corporations are putting money into politics to support things that do not support the people. “If we, as individuals, are spending our money in corporations that are then supporting things that we don’t actually believe in, then we’re actually the ones supporting things we don’t believe in,” Grimmette said. “We might not feel like we have a whole lot of power, but there are a lot of us.” She said people can use their dollars to speak and support.
