Saranac Lake Mad Hatter’s Ball to honor Minda Briaddy

SARANAC LAKE — Creative Healing Connections, a nonprofit organization, is hosting the Mad Hatter’s Ball next month.

The evening of music, munchies and mad hats is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hotel Saranac Great Hall. Over the years, the event has grown to become Creative Healing Connections’ biggest annual fundraiser and a way to honor a local person that has struggled with cancer.

This year the event will honor Minda Briaddy, who was diagnosed with stage IV melanoma in January 2020. After receiving 11 treatments of immunotherapy and dealing with side effects of extreme toxicity and organ failure, Briaddy is now in remission.

“It is my honor if it helps others to also have a healing experience. When I tell my story I always tell people you are responsible for your own health, and you must advocate for yourself. I am here to say never give up hope — it makes all the difference,” said Briaddy, when asked about sharing her story.

“We are excited to bring this annual event back,” said Lisa Keegan, board president. “It is an important fundraiser for the growth of Creative Healing Connections as we support women and their wellness journey.”

Attendees are encouraged to wear their best “crazy” hats and join an evening of fun including a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and prizes for best hats. Tickets are $75 per person; RSVP to creativehealingconnections2020@gmail.com to attend.

All proceeds from the event support wellness retreats for women veterans and women suffering from cancer or chronic illness.

Creative Healing Connections was established in 1999. For more information, visit www.creativehealingconnections.org.
