Adirondack Voters for Change open SL election info storefront

SARANAC LAKE — Adirondack Voters for Change on Monday opened an election information storefront at the new site of the Pendragon Theatre.

The office, across the street from Nori’s Village Market at the corner of Church and Woodruff streets, will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays until Election Day, Nov. 8.

The storefront will also stay open for the Third Thursday ArtWalk today.

Information on candidates and issues and materials for registering to vote will be available. Those wishing to contact the office or to volunteer should call 518-524-0901 during office hours. A grand opening will be held in a few weeks.

Since its beginning in 2004 with opposition to the Iraq war, AVfC has supported progressive candidates and advocated for various issues over the years, including opposition to Walmart’s proposed location in Saranac Lake, abortion rights, climate change, healthcare, voter registration, Medical Aid in Dying legislation and gun safety.

Representatives of AVfC have joined the Saranac Lake Block Party, made thousands of phone calls on behalf of candidates, staged or cosponsored rallies and protests, helped many people register to vote and written letters to the editor. This storefront office is the third one opened during a mid-term election season and follows five openings for presidential elections.
