DOT plans Route 86 roadwork

The state Department of Transportation is planning roadwork on state Route 86 in Jay and Wilmington starting Tuesday.

The road resurfacing work will be between Danielle Road in the town of Jay and Outlook Lane in the town of Wilmington. Work is scheduled to occur Monday through Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., until the end of this month, weather permitting.

The DOT is reminding drivers to obey flaggers’ directions and slow down significantly whenever encountering roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
