Franklin County reports zero COVID-19 cases

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Franklin County dwindled to zero on Tuesday for the second time in two weeks.

In the last month, fewer than 10 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Franklin County, according to the state Department of Health. This county’s active case count was last at zero on June 28. One person tested positive on June 29, and on Tuesday, that person was released from isolation, bringing the case count back to zero, according to the county Health Department.

The number of Franklin County residents who are getting tested for COVID-19 each day is declining in tandem with the county’s gradual increase in vaccinations. As of Monday, 49.3% of the Franklin County population was at least partially vaccinated, according to the state DOH. One month ago, around 48% of the population had been at least partially vaccinated.

In neighboring Essex County, 60.5% of the population was at least partially vaccinated as of Monday. The Essex County Health Department reported two active cases of COVID-19 countywide as of Tuesday.

Statewide, 60.5% of the total population has been at least partially vaccinated; 72.6% of adults in New York have been at least partially vaccinated as of Monday, according to the state DOH.
