SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Stage Rats are scurrying indoors to Pendragon Theatre, which invited the small drama group to use its stage instead of run the risk of getting rained on outdoors.

The Stage Rats planned to stage “Lifespan of a Fact” in the yard of 94 Forest Hill Ave., on Moody Pond in Saranac Lake, but weather forecasts had them worried about last-minute cancellations and rescheduling. With Pendragon stepping in, the performances on June 30 and July 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 — all at 6 p.m. — will be indoors on the Pendragon stage at 15 Brandy Brook Ave.

Seating will be limited to 30, and social distancing and masks will be required inside. Reservations are required; email adkstagerats@gmail.com. Donations are welcome.

“We regret losing our beautiful backdrop of Moody Pond, but we’re thrilled to be a sort of unofficial segue to Pendragon’s first official 2021 summer production!” Karen Lewis of the Stage Rats said in an email announcement.

“Lifespan of a Fact” is based on the true story of essayist John D’Agata, whose evocative exploration of a teenager’s suicide must withstand bullish fact-checking by ambitious recent Harvard grad Jim Fingal. What begins as an intern’s mundane assignment quickly accelerates into a battle of wits, intelligence and ethics. The play was written by Jeremy Kareken, David Murrell and Gordon Farrell, from the book by John D’Agata and Jim Fingal. The Stage Rats’ performance stars Jameson Batt, Brenden Gotham and Kathleen Recchia, and is directed by Beth Glover.
