SARANAC LAKE — Saranac Lake’s day-long music festival, Northern Current, will be returning this year on Sept. 5 in Riverside Park.

The free event will be returning after it was missed this past year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The festival will be from 12:30 to 9:30 p.m. and is friendly for all ages. Food will be available from a few vendors that have not been decided yet.

This year’s lineup has not been announced but will be set in the next few weeks. Event-goers can expect to see a diversity in music as in years past. However, this year the goal is to have five smaller acts. That is about half as many acts as in past years because bands and artists have been difficult to book.

“We’re just really excited to get everyone together and listen to live music as a community,” said Jess Collier, who is on the organizing committee.

The event is sponsored by many local businesses including Adirondack Health, North Country Community College, Little Italy and the Waterhole.
