Kramer to serve as acting CEO at Adirondack Health while search continues

SARANAC LAKE — Adirondack Health Chief Operating Officer Aaron Kramer has been selected to serve as acting chief executive officer while the health system’s national search for a new permanent CEO continues.

In March, Sylvia Getman, Adirondack Health’s current president and CEO, announced her decision to retire this summer. Adirondack Health has contracted with AMN Healthcare, an executive search firm, to identify candidates for the permanent CEO position.

“The search committee appreciates Aaron’s willingness to step up and serve as acting chief executive, in close collaboration with Sylvia,” said Susan Delehanty, chair of the Adirondack Health board of trustees and head of the board’s search committee. “As Sylvia continues to make executive management decisions, Aaron’s expanded involvement in, and observation of, the process will enhance continuity and be of significant benefit to Adirondack Health’s next chief executive officer.”

Kramer joined Adirondack Health in 2015 as the organization’s assistant vice president for information systems. In 2016 he was promoted to chief information officer and in 2019 to chief operating officer. He holds a master’s degree in information systems management from Marist College, a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Susquehanna University, and a certificate in health care leadership advancement from Cornell University. Kramer is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Getman’s intent is to retire July 1, but she expressed her openness to a flexible transition timeline, due to the continued uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
