Details for vaccine clinic in Saranac Lake Thursday

SARANAC LAKE — Details have been released for a COVID-19 vaccine clinic Thursday at DeChantal Apartments, 60 Church St.

This POD (point of dispensing) event is for Franklin County residents who are 60 and older, essential workers, or have qualifying conditions. It is by appointment only.

Eligible essential workers include restaurant, hotel and grocery workers, for-hire vehicle drivers, teachers, child-care workers, health care personnel, first responders and corrections workers.

To schedule an appointment, register onine at https://on.ny.gov/3cyyy7S. If registration assistance is needed, people 60 and older can call the Franklin County Office for the Aging at 518 481-1526. Eligible people under 60 should call the COVID-19 Call Center at 518-481-1111.

The Moderna vaccine will be given out. It may be administered to those 18 years of age or older. It requires a second shot. Second-dose appointments will occur on April 15 and will be scheduled at the first-dose appointment.

People going to this clinic must bring proof of a Franklin County ZIP code, such as a driver’s license or non-driver ID card, or postmarked envelope with your name and address, or bill with your name and address. Qualifying essential workers must provide proof of employment such as a letter from your employer, a pay stub or a work uniform. Proof of a qualifying condition is required by completing the attestation when registering for an appointment. Those over 60 must bring proof of age such as a driver license, non-driver ID or birth certificate.

Franklin County Public Transportation is available using on-demand runs within Saranac Lake. The hours of operation for this service in Saranac Lake are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday. There will be no fee charged for transportation services used to get the COVID-19 vaccination. Public transportation requires a 24-hour notice; call 518-483-9000 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

If you have Medicaid and live in Franklin County, you can request transportation through the Medical Answering Service at 1-844-666-6270. This is a new number for all Franklin County Medicaid recipients in need of transportation to and from doctor appointments. A medical transportation specialist for Franklin County will assist anyone who may need help scheduling transportation or who has any questions by calling 518-483-0934 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
