Appliance fire leaves Tupper Lake home without power

TUPPER LAKE — After an appliance and structure fire at a residence at 46 Pine St. Friday, the Red Cross helped one adult and two children.

Red Cross Disaster Public Affairs Team Leader Mary Alice Molgard said an appliance fire often means the electricity to that structure is shut off, so the residents cannot stay there until it is restored.

Volunteers from the Northeastern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to the three, including financial assistance for necessities such as food and clothing for one adult and two children, ages 6 and 11.

Volunteers also offered emotional support and comfort kits containing personal care items and stuffed animals for the children. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they navigate the road to recovery.
