Seen around town

HOLY MOLE! — A mole snacks on sunflower seeds on a porch in Bloomingdale Wednesday. This mole jumped up on the porch at least a dozen times, scurrying away with exactly one seed in its mouth every time. These small mammals primarily eat earthworms, digging holes to trap the worms and then paralyzing them with a toxin in the moles’ saliva. (Enterprise photo — Aaron Cerbone)
BEWARE OF MAMA BEAR — Three bears, a mom and two cubs, scale a tree in the woods in the Saranac Lake area on Aug. 29, 2020. Alexis Smith said the bear grunted at her boyfriend Joseph Kunath, who, though a bit frightened, snapped this picture and left the family alone. Warning: Mother bears can be especially aggressive and dangerous in trying to protect their cubs, and they should be avoided. (Provided photo — Joseph Kunath)
DOG ON A DOCK — Rose the German shepherd sits on a dock at Riverside Park in Saranac Lake. (Enterprise photo — Amy Scattergood)
