LAKE PLACID — Around nine local high schools banded together to bring students to a college counseling Zoom event hosted by the admissions deans of Stanford University, the University of Notre Dame and Yale University Wednesday.

Schools involved in the event include Northwood School in Lake Placid, Keene Central School, AuSable Valley Central School, Lake Placid Central School, Newcomb Central School, La Salle Institute, Salmon River Central School, Tupper Lake Central School, Saranac High School and the Albany Academies.

According to Darcy Norfolk of Northwood School, David McCauley, Northwood’s director of college counseling, has been staging this event over recent weeks, working with the other schools to include their students, too.

Norfolk said this is the first of this kind of event at Northwood in quite some time.

“Even if you don’t find yourself applying to these schools, most go from the same “playbook” when it comes to selecting their classes,” the invitation to students reads.
