SARANAC LAKE — A new art project created in collaboration with the owner of a Saranac Lake-based music venue was released online this month.

The project, a song by Plattsburgh-based band Famous Letter Writer featuring poetry by Fredonia poet Vince Quatroche, was created virtually. None of the collaborators have met in person. They were all introduced virtually by Peter Seward, the owner of Lake Flower Landing in Saranac Lake. Visual artist and SUNY Plattsburgh graduate Anthony Scalzo put together visual art to accompany the song.

Seward first met Quatroche at a recording release party with his sound engineer and collaborator Dan Berggren, at Bluseed Studios in Saranac Lake. Peter met M.I. (Michael) and Ru (Julia) Devine, known as Famous Letter Writer, at a January Jam concert at the Recovery Lounge in Upper Jay. Seward introduced the parties virtually because of their “fabricated electronic soundscapes, their wit, and the subconscious terrain their work evokes with wonder, affection, mystery,” according to a news release from Lake Flower Landing. Scalzo recently collaborated with Devine on a ten-part music video series for their record WARHOLA .

The song is called “August.” The music video can be found at https://youtu.be/lWI4kM_2eH0.

The project was funded by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.
