LP Sinfonietta offers virtual happy hours

LAKE PLACID — Weekly concerts with the Lake Placid Sinfonietta have become a summer tradition in Lake Placid.

For years, Wednesday evening concerts at the outdoor Paul White Memorial Shell, Sunday evening concerts at the LPCA, and annual concerts in Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake, North Creek and other Adirondack locations have been part of the experience of summer in the Adirondacks.

With the cancellation of the Sinfonietta’s 2020 performance season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it feels like a very quiet summer.

While unable to offer the regular schedule of in-person performances this summer, the Lake Placid Sinfonietta is pleased to offer a series of “virtual happy hours” on the Sunday evenings that the orchestra would have performed at the LPCA (July 26, and August 2, 9, and 16). These hour-long conversations and short performances with Music Director Stuart Malina and various musicians from the orchestra will be from 5 to 6 p.m. on the six Sunday evenings.

Registration links for these happy hours will be circulated by weekly Eblast newsletters, and will be posted on the Sinfonietta’s Facebook Page, @LPSinfonietta. The happy hours will also be live streamed on Facebook, but only registered attendees can make use of the interactive chat feature. If you want to receive the Lake Placid Sinfonietta’s Eblast newsletters, please visit the website, www.lakeplacidsinfonietta.org to add your name to the mailing list.

The Lake Placid Sinfonietta has postponed its 2020 season until 2021 and will return to the Adirondacks and live performances on July 7 through Aug. 15, 2021. For more info, visit LakePlacidSinfonietta.org.
