Man wearing nothing but garbage bags is charged with crashing stolen vehicle

WILLET — A man wearing nothing but trash bags was arrested in Willet, charged with driving a stolen car that had crashed nearby.

Christian R. Wilson, 23, of Endicott, was arrested about 6:45 p.m. Feb. 4 after state police were called by a resident of Webb Road, who said Wilson had entered the caller’s home wearing nothing but the bags, but had eventually left.

A state trooper found an abandoned vehicle, reported stolen from Broome County, in the ditch off Webb Road and later found Wilson behind a residence in a wooded area on Route 41 in Willet, where he was arrested.

Wilson was evaluated by medics before he was arraigned in Cortland County on charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony; and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. He was released without bail pending a future court appearance.

However, a week later, about 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, Wilson was arrested again, in Tioga County, charged with second-degree criminal trespass after a Nichols resident arrived home to find Wilson, then detained him, police said.

Wilson had entered the unlocked home, but did not take anything, police said. He left behind shoes, a baseball cap and poncho, but was otherwise dressed, before the resident came home, state police said.

Wilson was charged with second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, and ordered to appear Feb. 20 in Nichols Town Court.
