Police charge man accused of damaging Cascade ski trails

LAKE PLACID — New York State Police have charged a Hempstead man with damaging cross-country ski trails at the Cascade Ski Center this past summer.

Ryan T. Prezioso, 35, was charged with trespassing and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, for allegedly driving his Toyota 4-Runner on the Nordic trails and damaging them. At the time, many Adirondack trails were muddy because of rainfall, on top of high water levels leftover from spring.

The damages were estimated to be around $3,000, according to State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Jennifer Fleishman.

State Police first shared a photo of a man they believe is Prezioso this past June, when they put out a call to the public to see if anyone had information about the incident, the vehicle or the person involved. He was identified by members of the public as a result of that press release, according to Fleishman.

Prezioso was arrested at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday after he turned himself in at the State Police barracks in Ray Brook. State Police issued a warrant for his arrest, from the North Elba Town Court, on Oct. 22, 2019. He was recently arraigned in the North Elba Town Court, and was released on his own recognizance. He’s scheduled to reappear in court on March 17, 2020 at noon.
