Tupper snowflakes ‘melt’ in the rain

TUPPER LAKE — The warm weather that melted most of the snowflakes here Monday night also knocked out a few of the lighted snowflake decorations above Demars Boulevard out of commission for a few hours.

While there weren’t many snowflakes on the ground Tuesday, village Municipal Electric Department employees were up in the air keeping the snowflakes lining the road bright for all to see.

Department Superintendent Michael Dominie said the lighted decorations were put up a week or two ago with no additional hardware to help them weather the weather. He believes the decorations’ ground fault outlets may have gotten wet, making four of five of the dozen or so snowflakes go dark.

On Tuesday three trucks full of linemen pulled up to the scene and electric crews installed new outlets on the snowflakes.
