Rotarians, Cloudsplitter Foudation give $10,000 to Bahamas rebuilding

SARANAC LAKE — Members of the Rotary Club of Saranac Lake, with some assistance from the Rotary Club of Lake Placid and contributions from community members, have raised $5,000 for hurricane relief in the Bahamas.

The Cloudsplitter Foundation matched the $5,000, so the locals were able to send $10,000 in relief funding.

“We are so proud of our area and their outpouring of support!” Saranac Lake Rotarian Hannah Hanford said in an email to the Enterprise.

Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas as a Category 5 storm on Sept. 1 and 2. The official death toll is 69 people, and damage estimates range into the billions of U.S. dollars.
