A two-car collision involving a custom hot rod sent two people to the hospital Tuesday evening in Tupper Lake.

The collision happened at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Pine and Main streets.

Tupper Lake police say a Chevrolet Impala driven by 24-year-old Sierra Young collided with the hot rod driven by 53-year-old Maurice Helms, with Billie Scott in the passenger’s seat. Police say Young failed to yield the right of way when she turned from Pine onto Main and ran into the side of Helms’ hot rod, which was traveling down Main Street.

Tupper Lake Police Chief Eric Proulx said Young was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way. He said two people were taken to the hospital, and it’s unclear if they had any injuries.
