Volunteers needed for Saranac River cleanup Sunday

SARANAC LAKE — The annual Saranac River cleanup will take place on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., followed by a barbecue.

Volunteers planning to attend should show up in the village parking lot at Dorsey Street at the start of the cleanup.

Organizers say they need people who are willing to be in a boat, on water or on the land.

“We are excited to be able to pull our resources together as a community to clean up a natural resource we all care about and rely on so much,” coordinator Nick Brainerd said in a press release.

St. Regis Canoe Outfitters is coordinating the event with Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters, Northern Forest Canoe Trail, American Rivers and the village of Saranac Lake to provide boats, trash bags and other necessities to collect trash.

Sign up in advance by contacting 518-891-1838 or info@canoeoutfitters.com. People are also welcome to show up without signing up.
