SARANAC LAKE — Three Saranac Lake High School students are organizing a fun run Saturday afternoon to help provide developing nations with clean water.

The Thirst Project Fun Run/Walk is being planned and run by Robyn Rutgers, Cassidy Everritt and Rosemary Crowley as a project for their AP Environmental Science class. Thirst Project is a nonprofit organization that aims to provide communities in 13 developing countries with access to safe, clean drinking water.

The fun run/walk will take place at the high school. It will have a 1-mile race and a 5K, both open to people of all ages. The 1-mile race will start at 2:30 p.m. and cost $10 to enter. The 5K will begin 3 p.m. and cost $20. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each race.

Registration will open at 2 p.m., and the first 50 people will each receive a free T-shirt. Participants can pre-register at my.thirstproject.org/slhs.
