Island Chapel opens for summer
UPPER SARANAC – Now that summer has arrived, Island Chapel will begin its summer worship season this Sunday, June 30, at 11 a.m.
Island Chapel is located at the south end of Upper Saranac Lake.
Boat transportation is offered every Sunday morning, as the Chapel Bound pontoon boat leaves from the end of Old Dock Road off state Route 3. The first boat leaves at 10:15 a.m. and again at 10:35 a.m. People may take their own boats as well. The boat driver drops their passengers off at the Chapel dock, and then anchors off shore. A shuttle transports the driver back to the dock for the 11 a.m. service.
Island Chapel is a Christian interdenominational church, offering a worshipful atmosphere throughout the summer to the many visitors who attend. Inspirational speakers conduct the worship service. Volunteers on the Chapel Committee serve to operate the chapel each week. Each Sunday visitors are invited to sing in an impromptu choir.
Worshipping at the chapel has been a unique summer experience since the mid-1800s.
